Chestnut Children’s Centre
The Central Cluster of Children’s Centres services covers the following areas in Exeter: the city centre, Wonford, Countess Wear, The Rydons and Clyst Heath. This is in line with the Central Learning Community. There are approximately 2,600 children under five years old that live in the central area. Services are delivered from our three Exeter Children’s Centres. We support families with children right from the antenatal stage up to five years old. We help parents to understand their child’s development and how they can support it. In addition to this, we offer a range of family support services aimed at reducing the impact of other stress factors that may impact on a child’s early development. This includes poverty, health, domestic violence, mental health, and drug and alcohol misuse. In order to achieve the best outcome for children and families our staff team is made up from a range of related professional backgrounds and we work closely with partner agencies in the delivery of services, or by referring for specialist support. Services are delivered either in a group or on a one to one basis, dependent on need.
